The SMT Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, stability, and performance of SMT machines and related equipment in the factory. The role includes planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance, supervising technicians, improving machine uptime, and maintaining strict compliance with EWI standards in safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preventive Maintenance

• Develop, review, and update the annual Preventive Maintenance plan for all SMT machines and equipment.
  • Ensure consistent execution of PM for key SMT systems: Loader/ Stencil printer/ SPI/ Pick-and-place machines (Chip Mounter)/ AOI/ Reflow oven/ Wave soldering machines/ Conformal coating machines
  • Automation modules (conveyors, loaders/unloaders, buffer systems)
• Maintain and service SMT-related tools & equipment including:
  • Stencil & stencil cleaning systems
  • Feeders & feeder calibration units
  • Fixtures, wave pallets, coating pallets
  • Mechanical jigs, alignment fixtures, and machine accessories
• Create inspection checklists and ensure accurate recording of maintenance data.
• Organize day‑to‑day PM tasks and distribute workload to Maintenance Technicians professionally and efficiently.

2. Corrective Maintenance

• Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and troubleshooting requests.
• Diagnosing root causes quickly and implement effective corrective actions.
• Supervise technicians during repair tasks and ensure proper documentation of machine downtime and failure mode.
• Coordinate with suppliers for technical support, repairs, and calibration services.
• Ensure all CM activities follow proper safety, escalation, and reporting protocols.

3. Machine & Equipment Performance Management

• Monitor performance, reliability, and stability of SMT equipment.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce equipment breakdowns, enhance machine reliability, and maximize overall SMT line running time.
  • Enhance machine capability and process accuracy
• Verify quality and technical specifications of incoming spare parts.
• Manage spare part inventory, including defining min–max levels and ensuring availability for urgent repairs.
• Maintain all machine information files, PM/CM records, and spare part logs.

4. Team Leadership & Technical Training

• Provide coaching and on‑the‑job training for Maintenance Technicians.
• Ensure technicians understand complex procedures, including recovery steps, alignment, calibration, and preventive tasks.
• Maintain discipline, safety compliance, and technical readiness of the maintenance team.
• Support development of Work Instructions (WI) and maintenance SOPs.

5. Safety, Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure safe working conditions for all maintenance activities.
• Enforce the use of proper PPE, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and masks.
• Prepare periodic reports to the SMT Engineering Supervisor / HOD on machine status, maintenance performance, and downtime events.
• Comply with internal audit requirements and standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, IPC standards).

REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in SMT maintenance.

- Strong knowledge of SMT machine operation and maintenance.

- Proficient in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems used in SMT lines.

- Strong troubleshooting capabilities for:

• Vision/camera alignment
• Calibration procedures
• Machine recovery
• Feeder maintenance & repair
• Experience in maintaining SMT accessories: Stencil, feeder, fixture, wave pallet, coating pallet, jigs, tooling.

- Strong leadership, communication, and team‑coordination skills.

- Ability to train and supervise maintenance technicians effectively.

- Strong problem‑solving mindset and continuous improvement orientation.

- Knowledge of quality, safety, and environmental systems (IPC, ISO 9001/13485/14001).
