The Role
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining database solutions, supporting production environments, resolving complex data issues, and performing data imports, migrations and corrections.
A key focus of the role is the ability to safely investigate and fix production data, develop reliable SQL scripts, and work with tools such as PowerShell and SSIS to import and transform data.
The successful candidate will also have a good understanding of accounting concepts and ERP systems.
We are looking for a Senior Database Developer – SQL Server to join our Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Database Development

Optimise complex SQL queries, Stored Procedures and Views.
Participate in solution design and development of database solutions.
Assess the impact of change requests and develop appropriate database solutions.
Develop and maintain Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, SQL scripts and database objects.
Extract, analyse and mine data using SQL.
Participate in database code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.

Production Data Support & Correction

Apply appropriate validation, backup and rollback strategies for production data changes.
Assess the impact of data changes before implementation.
Document data corrections, root causes and preventative actions.
Work with Development, Support, BA and other teams to resolve data- related production issues.
Validate corrected data and ensure the issue has been fully resolved.
Develop and execute safe data correction scripts in production.
Identify incorrect, missing, duplicated or inconsistent data and determine the root cause.
Investigate and resolve complex production data issues.

Data Import, Migration & Conversion

Develop and execute data import and migration solutions using:
SQL scripts
SSIS
Other appropriate data integration tools.
Develop repeatable and reliable data import processes.
Perform data mapping, transformation and validation.

Accounting & ERP Data

Ability to investigate and resolve data discrepancies while considering their business and financial impact.
Understand how financial and transactional data is represented within an ERP/DMS.
Work with BA and other stakeholders to validate data corrections and ensure the expected business outcome.
Good understanding of accounting concepts and ERP systems.

Database Performance

Optimise SQL queries, Stored Procedures and database structures.
Analyse execution plans and query performance.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues.

Essential

5+ years of strong SQL Server / SQL development experience.
Strong T- SQL skills.
Strong experience writing complex Stored Procedures and SQL scripts.
Strong hands- on experience fixing and correcting data in production environments.
Experience working with large and complex datasets.
Strong understanding of database performance tuning and indexing.
Experience with SQL Server Agent Jobs.
Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Good experience with SSIS.
Good knowledge of accounting concepts and ERP systems.

Desirable

Experience working in a SaaS production environment.
Experience investigating data discrepancies.
Experience supporting an ERP, DMS, Accounting or Financial system.
Experience working with Agile development methodologies.

AI & Engineering Productivity
Titan is adopting AI- assisted engineering tools to improve productivity.
The successful candidate should be comfortable using tools such as
ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot or similar
for:

Creating data validation scripts.
Investigating data issues.
Generating and reviewing SQL scripts.
Analysing complex datasets.
Troubleshooting and root- cause analysis.
Technical documentation.
SQL analysis and optimisation.
Automating repetitive database tasks.

Candidates should be able to review and validate AI- generated output, particularly before executing scripts against production data.

Staff can start early and finish early to keep in sync with Australia working hours
Working hours is flexible and the standard guideline is between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with 1 hour break for lunch.
